About

The Temple of An

A living path where ancient gods, language, and the heavens converge.

The Temple of An (É AN-NA) is a modern religious organization devoted to the restoration of Sumerian spirituality as a living, accessible path. Rooted in the traditions of ancient Mesopotamia, the Temple approaches spirituality not as a fixed system of belief, but as an active relationship between the individual, the gods, and the structure of the cosmos.

In ancient Sumer, spirituality was woven into daily life. The gods were understood as real and present forces, expressed through the heavens, the natural world, and human experience. The Temple of An seeks to revive this mode of engagement—not by recreating the past rigidly, but by making its principles available in a way that can be practiced today.

The Temple does not dictate how individuals must worship, believe, or practice. It does not claim authority over personal spirituality. Instead, it offers guidance, structure, and resources for those who feel drawn to the Sumerian gods, astrology, and ritual practice. Each person is encouraged to develop their own relationship with the divine, informed by experience rather than imposed doctrine.

A Living Relationship

The purpose of the Temple is not to create dependence or enforce belief, but to support connection. Spiritual authority does not originate from an institution—it arises from one’s relationship with the divine. The Temple exists to help facilitate that relationship by providing tools, structure, and context, while leaving the direction and depth of practice in the hands of the individual.

Through ritual, study, and engagement with the gods, individuals may begin to recognize a deeper continuity between themselves and the divine. This recognition is not imposed—it emerges through experience.

Our Approach

  • The gods are understood as real and present
  • Astrology is practiced as a sacred discipline
  • Spiritual authority belongs to the individual, not the institution
  • Guidance is offered, not enforced
  • Practice is shaped by relationship, not obligation

Founder And Overseer

The Temple of An was founded and is overseen by Abbeygale Quinn, an independent Sumerologist and lifelong practitioner and researcher dedicated to the study of ancient Sumerian traditions, with a particular focus on the earliest forms of astrology and the Sumerian language. Her work centers on examining original sources and reconstructing practical systems that can be meaningfully applied in the modern era. She has spent over two decades working directly with individuals through astrology, intuitive guidance, and spiritual counseling.

Ordained as a minister in 1999, Abbeygale has continued to develop her work at the intersection of spirituality, language, and celestial observation. In addition to her independent work, she has contributed to the development of Sidereal Astrology through organizational, editorial, and educational efforts within the broader astrological community, and is a co-founder of the International Sidereal Astrology Association (the ISAA).

Abbeygale is also a practicing Tantrika whose work with mantra, sacred language, and traditional ritual structures has informed the reconstruction and development of Sumerian ritual counterparts that can be meaningfully practiced in the modern era.
