This sacred space has been created for those who wish to make offerings, prayers, and petitions within a consecrated ritual setting, even from a distance. Here you will find virtual shrines dedicated to the Sumerian gods, each one serving as a place where offerings may be made according to your needs, intentions, or devotional relationship with a particular deity.
Some visitors come with a specific god already in mind. Others come simply to pray, to give thanks, to ask for help, or to participate in sacred offering practice without directing their petition to one deity in particular. This temple allows for both.
How to Participate
Each shrine in this Virtual Temple has been consecrated through an actual Sumerian ritual performed by the High Priest(ess) of the Temple of An. These are not treated as decorative or symbolic pages alone, but as ritually established devotional spaces connected to ongoing temple practice.
When you submit an offering through the form below, your offering is entered into the temple records and included in prayer.
After your submission, a virtual candle will be lit in the shrine you select. That candle will remain visible for 30 days. During that period, it stands as a sign of your prayer, petition, remembrance, devotion, or offering within the temple.
In addition to the virtual candle, the names of offerers and their petitions are read aloud during an actual prayer service conducted as part of temple ritual. In this way, your offering is not only displayed online, but also carried into formal ritual observance.
Choosing A Shrine
Within the Virtual Temple, you may choose the shrine that best fits your intention.
If you already have a devotional connection with a particular deity, you may place your offering in that god’s shrine. If you are praying for a matter associated with a deity’s traditional sphere of influence, you may also choose accordingly.
If you do not wish to direct your offering to a specific deity, you may place it in the Shrine of An. The Shrine of An is suitable for general prayers, broad petitions, and offerings made without a deity-specific focus.
Those who wish may also visit the individual shrines of specific gods and make their offerings there instead.
Names & Anonymity
Offerings may be made either openly or anonymously.
If you wish your name to appear, it will be listed with your candle. If you prefer to remain anonymous, anonymous names are listed in the traditional form as:
LÚ—man
MUNUS—woman
This allows participants to make offerings privately while still being represented in the shrine.
Virtual Offerings
A standard virtual offering includes the following:
Optional Offerings
Those who wish to add a physical ritual component may do so.
For $1, an actual candle may be burned on your behalf during a Sumerian ritual.
You may also choose from a menu of physical offerings to be presented in ritual. Available offerings include:
A pricing list is provided below. Contributions for these offerings are used to purchase the foodstuffs and ritual materials used in the ceremony.
Important Notes
Virtual offerings are devotional acts and ritual petitions. Submission of an offering does not guarantee any specific outcome. Offerings are made in reverence, sincerity, and prayer according to temple tradition.
Please choose your shrine thoughtfully. If you are uncertain, the Shrine of An is appropriate for general offerings. If you have a particular deity, need, or patron god in mind, you may choose that specific shrine instead.
Sumbit Your Offering
Use the form below to submit your offering request.
After submission, your candle will be placed in the appropriate shrine and will remain there for 30 days. If you have selected any physical ritual additions, those will be included in the next appropriate temple rite.
Active Offerings
The candles displayed below represent current active offerings within the Virtual Temple. Each flame marks an offering that has been received and entered into prayer.
